On Saturday 28th. March, 2009, our Lions Club of Greenhithe celebrated it's 25th. Charter Anniversary at the Greenhithe Village Hall. A great time was had by all those present. Our Guest Speaker was Past International Director Lion Cliff Heywood who spoke on various achievements of our Lions Club over the years.  Our Lions District 202K Vice District Governor Lion Colin Twyman also spoke and congratulated our Club as well.

Saturday 23rd. May saw our Lions' Club hosting our Epicurean Delight Evening at the Greehithe School Hall in Sunnyview Road.

We had 17 tables filled with various gourmet delights where one could taste and buy if they wished. All very exciting !! Everyone says they cannot wait for our next one !  So keep a look out. We will advertise this on our website. All the profits of the day will go back into the Greenhithe community. So thank you one and all for your help and support. We have our ex past president Brenda Coleman to thank for this wonderful idea. It was Brenda's suggestion that we make this one of our projects. This was our third event.  So many thanks Brenda.

ACTIVITIES: 2008. - PARK BENCHES. LIONS CLUB OF GREENHITHE PROJECT...

The Park Seat project that we advertised in the Greenhithe Village News some ago has had good support so far but we are looking for more support to place more seats around the village. We have had a good response from families and individuals pledging support and earning the right to have a memorial plaque placed on the seats. We have also received cash donations from those who just think the seats are a worthwhile idea. The seats placed so far are; End of Marae Road, in the Reserve (Humbug Point), sponsored by the Johnson Family plus others Kingfisher Grove Common, sponsored by GRRCHA War Memorial Park by the Wall of Memories, sponsored by the Mosley Family. Two are now placed in Collins Park, one donated by the Collins Family members and the other by The Lions Club of Greenhithe. There are a number of sites still available around Greenhithe village for seats; War Memorial Park could easily take another three, Kingfisher Grove, Oscar Road, and Roland Reserve are all lovely sites for seats. Each seat cost approximately $1,400 to install. Pledges of $750 or more allows the pledge maker to place a memorial plaque on the seat. (plaque costs additional). Please think again about supporting this community project to add another feature that makes Greenhithe a great place to live and relax. If you or your family would like to support this project just call any of the Lions Club members below to pledge your support. Please contact the club by phoning: Lion Max McPhail phone 413.9056; or Lion Bob McKinstry at phone 413.8433 to pledge your support. We look forward to your support and phone calls. Thank you.

HISTORICAL:

Our major project in 2004 was raising funds for a defibrillator to be used by the Greenhithe Volunteer Fire Brigade. Over $14,000 was raised through a raffle and other activities, culminating in a handover of the equipment. Click here to see the pictures.
